The global economy is going through a period of unprecedented change – change that will forever alter the role of accountants. Those who do not revisit and reinvent their skillsets run the risk of being left behind. Developed in collaboration with ACCA, this pathway is designed to help you with that reinvention, focusing on the 'professional quotients' accountants will need to adopt in response to change.
The pathway is based on the results of ACCA's major research project, Professional accountants – the future, which identified 4 major drivers of change: regulation and governance; digital technologies; expectations; and globalisation. Together these drivers will redefine the role of the accountant of the future.
By analysing the impact of these drivers on specific technical areas, and through discussion with over 2000 professional accountants and employers, ACCA concluded that the accountant of the future will need an optimal and changing combination of professional competencies: a collection of technical knowledge, skills and abilities combined with interpersonal behaviours and qualities.
These conclusions are embodied in seven 'professional quotients': Technical skills and ethics (TEQ); intelligence (IQ) digital awareness (DQ); creative (CQ), emotional intelligence (EQ) vision (VQ) and experience (XQ).
Along with your fellow participants, you will work through the six skills quotients, reflecting on and developing your competence to help you to thrive in the ever-evolving world of the accountant of the future.
